General Electrics: Corporate Irresponsibility

For years, General Electric has been dumping Polychlorinated biphenyls in the Hudson River, and then spent decades arguing that it couldn't clean it up, until EPA's enforced authority to ensure a full cleanup under federal law. Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) are a mixture of up to 209 individual chlorinated chemicals which are no longer produced in the United States, but are still found in the environment. Nobody knows how much contamination is in the river, so its understandable on why (GE) would want to still fight in the courts to stop or weaken the EPA's enforement, even so they are making an effort to clean up the Hudson River.

Ch. 4- General Electric: The Marketing Enviroment

General electric is aware that they are known through out the world and that they will need to make changes and adapt.(GE) has a great marketing mix; They are supporting communities in more than 140 countries with goods and service, but as time go, so does the old values people have that the company can offer. In an external view, each customer has a life style and companies need to focus on how to supply customers with new values in their life.
Mixed with other technology General Electrics has created to help customers live a steady comfortable life. For every class of people,(GE) created a new meter that will give customers the ability to monitor energy usage, and see what appliances they use more and less power.
People will be able to follow the usage of power, so it can match their budget, such as cooling their house, instead of running a washing machine during peak hours. Customers will be in control of their energy usage as never.
The new meter is called, smart meter. Smart meters, include a system to alert consumers with a text message or a telephone call when they are about to move to a higher-priced electricity tier.
To be able to adjust household power, during critical periods will help a family as a whole, not individually.

General Electric (GE) Chapter, 3 - Ethic and Social Responsibility

General electric has a responsibility to keep their moral principles matched with laws, communities, and those who resent some of the action they’ve taking. General Electric released a Global Citizenship report; titled renewing responsibilities. CEO of General Electric, Jeffery Immelt brought to attention that it’s time for the company, including other companies to readjust and approach their role in the world better. In an article I’ve read by, Melissa J. Anderson, brought my attention to Sam Nunn. Sam is the Chairman of the GE Board of Directors Public Responsibilities committee. In regards of the company responsibility, he said, “The evolution of GE’s effort to continually challenge ourselves to be more transparent, more accessible, and more cognizant of our impact on society and the environment.”

He continues, “GE is making a dedicated effort to develop its business strategy so that its products and services have a positive human impact and produce long-term business success.” GE has invested in ecomagination. Ecomagination is a business that helps meet customers’ demands and create new technology, by making them energy efficiency. General Electric has been investing money on ecomagination intended for clean research and development. They also pledge to keep the public informed and continue ongoing discussions, and communications that connect with the public on their ecomagination efforts.

National Grid: (GE) Chapter 2-Strategic Planning

General Electric faces many challenges, for example, power outages and quality disruptions to network connection that can cost US, billions of dollars each year or more. The GE has the potential to improve web connection and energy that keeps the city running. The company plans to reduce the power disturbance to 75% percent by 2020. This will save costumers from receiving connections issues, including lowering the cost for US business, by half of what they spend each year.

GE plans to attack these issues by reducing losses, reducing voltage and improving system reliability. Lowering losses through reactive power will control websites interruptions. Reducing voltages will eliminate the over flowing of energy, so customers are not paying for unused energy and reduce grid load. Improving system reliability can be reached by preventing spill of energy failures.

General Electric (GE) businesses all share one important quality: each develop thoughts of imagination and channel it to make life better for customers and consumers all around the world.

General Electric made a policy, which they called "Ecomagination." The company focuses on being an environmentally conscious company. They work on solving all of the most critical environmental issues. The efforts that made a complete transformation in strategy for GE that is changing the way it develops products, sells to customers, and enters emerging markets.

Before, General Electric was created to be one of the biggest companies in the world, following the evolution of Electrical Technology. A thought of electric light, heat and power, now a shining realistic picture, helped make the company grow into a vital topic.

Thomas Edison; the creator of the light bulb in a research laboratory, has formed a number of separate business enterprise and pulled them all together to make one large company called Edison General Electric. Around the time Edison combine his business, another person named Charles Coffin, had also brought together a number of small businesses to form the Thomas Houston Company. Eventually, Edison and Thomas merged companies, which made the name of the company General Electric.
